This summer I visited Socrates Sculpture park, an essential part of the Astoria, Queens community. This cute little neighborhood park is where people gather to relax, enjoy the sculptures, walk their dogs, and shop at the little free store!
Everyone was out in style with their dogs this summer, just chilling in the summer sun.
The park features rotating sculptures by local artists. My favorite part is that people are allowed to interact with the sculptures. Imagine people relaxing in this basketball hoop hammock! Here are just a couple of the sculptures I saw in the park this summer:
I visited the park during their annual Pride Picnic. There was live music, vendors, cool outfits, and most importantly swag! Vendors hand out free things for people to remember their business by. Little did they know, I was secretly judging each piece!
I brought my dog, Gonzo to the Pride Picnic and he absolutely loves to snack! He managed to get his paws on all kinds of delicious tidbits. Here’s how he felt about everything he ate!
There’s a little free store at the front of the park, and it’s actually a misnomer because it’s pretty large! People drop off all kinds of weird things. Here’s a selection of what I found in the free store on my many visits to the park.
